Segen Expands Finance Offering to Residential Solar Market in Partnership with Zopa Bank

Building on the 2025 launch of its Commercial and Industrial (C&I) finance offering, Segen’s latest expansion allows homeowners to spread the cost of installations, giving accredited installers a tool to convert customer interest into completed projects.

Under the new partnership with Zopa Bank, Segen Finance acts as a credit broker, introducing homeowners who opt for financing directly to Zopa Bank Limited, which serves as the lender.

Removing Regulatory Barriers for Installers

Traditionally, offering consumer credit requires installers to navigate complex Financial Conduct Authority regulations and lending frameworks. The Segen Finance initiative eliminates these hurdles by managing the introduction between lenders and homeowners directly through Segen’s proposal tool.

Until now, providing consumer finance directly was impractical for many installers due to regulatory requirements and the complexity of establishing an agreement outside of traditional loans. The collaboration with Zopa Bank enables homeowners to spread the cost of financing for their solar and storage installation directly through the proposal, thus helping installers turn customer inquiries into completed projects and grow their business pipeline.

Streamlined Digital Journey

The residential finance solution integrates directly into Segen’s all-new Proposal Tool. Once an installer shares a system proposal with a customer, the homeowner can use a dedicated link to apply on Zopa’s digital platform.

  • Homeowners receive a personalised financing quote in around two minutes with no impact on their credit score. Automated decisioning delivers credit outcomes almost instantly.
  • Eligible customers can spread costs over 24 to 120 months at a representative 9.9% APR (Credit is subject to status and affordability. *Terms and conditions apply. Missed or late repayments may affect an individual’s credit rating and ability to obtain credit in the future).
  • Upon financing approval, installers can schedule hardware deliveries without paying upfront or using their credit limits, freeing up capacity for additional projects. Once complete, installers receive full payment for the installation, minus the hardware cost.

All components for installations under the scheme are supplied directly by Segen, ensuring equipment meets rigorous quality and performance audits customers have come to expect from Segen.

Unlocking New Market Demand

The partnership addresses the growing consumer expectation for convenient financing schemes when making major home investments, delivering a simple, transparent, and fully regulated journey.

Historically, the UK residential solar and storage market has relied entirely on homeowners paying for systems upfront. Introducing flexible financing changes that dynamic, allowing households that recognise the benefits of solar and storage, but were previously unwilling or unable to make a large initial outlay, to participate.

Expanding Segen Finance into the residential sector, particularly alongside opportunities created by the UK government’s Warm Homes Plan, aims to unlock a significant new market for installers while accelerating the adoption of clean energy across the country.
