Warm Homes Plan set to benefit up to 300,000 homes next year.
The government announced a new plan that will help up to 300,000 homes save money and utilize cleaner heating. The plan includes boosting the budget for the Boiler Upgrade scheme, which will support more households in switching to heat pumps, and insulating more homes – saving homeowners around £200 per year.
Benefits of the Warm Homes Plan
– In England and Wales, homeowners will have access to a £7,500 heat pump grant.
– Installing an air source heat pump will be possible without the need for a planning application, addressing a previous barrier for homeowners.
– Funded energy efficiency upgrades will be provided for social housing residents, lower-income households, and renters.
The plan aims to support British manufacturers by introducing a reformed Clean Heat Market Mechanism on April 1st, 2025. This will ensure manufacturers have the time to scale up supply chains. This will make heat pumps a more accessible choice for households. The government will be investing over £5 million into Ideal Heating, promoting a homegrown heat pump industry and supporting hundreds of low-carbon jobs.
This new approach will deliver cleaner heating, reduce energy bills, tackle fuel poverty and create new opportunities across the country.
