Clean Power for Commercial Premises
Local Authorities are now also increasingly imposing planning conditions on new build properties that require a certain percentage of renewable energy to be generated on-site. This is often referred to as the "Merton Rule".
Other requirements, including ever more stringent building regulations, and corporate needs to become more green, are also driving increases in the demand for renewable energy systems for buildings. These include adhering to the various BREEAM standards for sustainable buildings.
Segen can help meet these needs and has three specific product and service ranges that we believe can help.
Not all of these will be suitable in all cases, but Segen will undertake a short assessment of the property and advise on which technologies may be best suited.
Small Wind Turbines | ||
![]() | A small wind generator may be sited on an industrial estate or next to the company offices, and will be a highly visible reminder to your staff, customers, suppliers and shareholders that you are taking your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) seriously. Local authorities are not only willing to allow a small wind turbine or other types of on-site renewable installation, but many now make an element of on-site power generation a requirement for many new facilities. The Westwind 20kW turbine (shown to the left) can generate 30 - 40MWh per annum at a site with a reasonably good wind speed providing a significant contribution towards a building's energy needs. Segen can now also offer a much larger turbine, the Vestas 75kW, for larger industrial scale generation needs. Enter your location details into our free wind speed checker to find out if your office or factory has the potential to generate some of its own energy.
Biodiesel Combined Heat and Power
| If your annual combined energy costs for electricity and heat are in excess of £15,000 per annum, you have a three phase supply and you are looking to make a significant reduction in your CO2 footprint, but in a cost effective way, then a biodiesel CHP system may be for your building. Ideal for properties that have year round heat, as well as electricity requirements, a biodiesel CHP system can often be the most cost effective solutions to generating your on-site renewable targets. Please read our CHP information pages to ascertain if your requirement could be met with a biodiesel CHP system from Segen. | ![]() | |
Solar PV | ||
![]() | Almost any building with a flat or sloping roof is likely to be capable of having a solar PV system. Systems can be supplied to almost any size and shape making it an ideal solution where a small wind turbine or CHP system may not be practical. Systems can be supplied to be retrofitted to existing buildings, or can be incorporated in the design stages of a new build or renovation project. For more information visit our Solar PV information pages to see if your requirement could be met with Solar PV system from Segen.
