A Reliable Supplier Of Sustainable Energy
Segen has been set up as a professional Independent Power Producer (IPP) that can maintain a regular supply of sustainable energy to Europe's power distribution companies and operate within the regulations that apply to their particular region or state.
Our objective is to deliver electrical energy with a low environmental footprint from sustainable sources via compatible feeds into established networks.
In all our business activities, our watchwords are reliability, health, safety and total commitment to quality. We integrate our services to be compatible with your own business objectives to ensure practical and efficient working relationships.
The energy supplied by Segen will be independently audited to have come from a verifiable sustainable source. This verification would also demonstrate the amount of CO2 and other greenhouse gases offset by our clean energy production.
Our energy production installations will be run on three guiding principles:
- Using the minimum amount of energy.
- Utilising the most energy-efficient load equipment.
- Generating the maximum amount of sustainable energy.
The primary energy demand for all European developments in the future is likely to be measured in terms of "carbon burden". For most European mixed power generation economies, the following figures apply:
- 1 kWh of electric energy = 0.43 kilograms of CO2 per annum
- 1 kWh of gas energy = 0.19 kilograms of CO2 per annum
These figures are even higher if the power is all coal-based, and actually nearer 1kg per kW hour. The more energy you generate from sustainable sources, the lower the carbon burden.
The average annual number of kWh used per household in Europe in 1980 was 4,400, while in 2000 it was 6,300. By 2020 this energy usage within Europe is forecast to be 7,800 kWh.
It is therefore increasingly important for power distribution companies to buy energy from a company like Segen because our production methods directly reduce CO2 emissions, rather than simply displacing it through carbon trading.
