CHP System

After extensive market research Segen has selected to market the EC Power XRGI 15G Natural Gas and 17BD Biodiesel CHP systems as illustrated below.

EC Power was formed in 1994 by Danish civil engineers with many years experience in heat and power technology. EC Power has logged more than 1,000,000 hrs of system operation in a diverse range of applications, from farming to housing projects. EC Power is partly owned by Statoil, the worlds fourth largest supplier of energy, this gives EC Power the secure financial platform for future expansion and development.

The EC Power system is a 15kWe (electricity) / 23kWt (heat) or 17kWe (electricity) / 26kWt (heat) biodiesel CHP system for schools, industrial premises, hospitals, housing associations and many other medium scale uses of both electricity and heat. Up to 5 units may be installed in parallel giving a total output of 85kWe and 130kWt.

The EC Power system consists of a co-generation unit powered by natural gas or biodiesel, a heat storage system and an advanced computer management package. Accessories such as heat pumps and / or boilers can be added to become an integral part of the complete control system.

The EC Power solution is an open platform that can be implemented into any new or existing installation.

This is ideally suited to schools, hospitals, hotels, leisure centres, housing associations, garden centres, commercial premises and many other applications requiring a mixture of electricity and heat output for extended hours throughout the year.

The EC Power system has 4 main components:

Power Unit

This is an internal combustion engine, similar to that in a diesel car, along with a generator for  17kWe of electrical and 26kWt of thermal output with an overall efficiency of about 90%.

Storage Unit

Holds hot water until needed. Available in three sizes:

  • 475l
  • 1000l
  • 1500l

Distribution Unit

This manages the heat output from the power unit and channels it to the area it is required, either to be used as space heating, hot water generation, or storage.

Control Panel

This advanced computer managed control system maintains optimum operating conditions, follows electric demand (producing only what is required with no waste) and handles remote communications for data retrieval and analysis.

Multiple Systems

Up to 5 units may be installed in parallel giving a total output of 85kWe and 130kWt.
